Job Description Summary:

Cuesta College is establishing an instructor pool for possible part time teaching assignments at locations throughout San Luis Obispo County (North County, SLO-Coast, South County) for classes during the day, evening and weekends.

In this recruitment Cuesta College is also specifically seeking instructors to teach classes to a diverse group of able body and frail body older adults at skilled-nursing facilities and community sites during the day at locations throughout San Luis Obispo County.

The immediate needs for the Fall 2017 semester and upcoming Spring 2018 Semester are:

Community sites with an emphasis in South County:
We are especially looking for instructors in Art (Drawing, Watercolor and Painting) and Literature (Adventures in Reading), Exercise, Literature (Adventures in Reading), Music Appreciation, (Senior Seminar) Philosophy, Religion, Psychology, World Cultures, Current Events and topics of interest to seniors.

For classes at skilled nursing facilities throughout the county , instructors in Reminiscing, Creative Arts, Music Arts, Fun with Food, and Adapted Exercise.

Essential Functions & Qualifications:

-A Bachelor’s degree and two years work experience;
-An Associate’s degree and six years work experience;
-The equivalent (candidates making application on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment, indicated on the Equivalency Process link).
-Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

-Teaching experience in the discipline, community college level preferred;
-Awareness of the philosophy and objectives of California Community Colleges.
