The annual “Hearts for the Arts” online art auction has raised more than $20,000 in support of the Springfield Regional Arts Council’s educational programming. These vital arts programs serve at least 20,000 community members, all at no cost to the individual, because of the generosity of SRAC’s donors, artists, grant funds, and events, such as Hearts for the Arts.
Last year, local artists donated 50 works of art to SRAC for Hearts for the Arts, which were bid on by the public online and in person, raising close to $4,000. It is the only time that the SRAC asks artists to donate a piece of their time or work. This year’s event, Hearts for the Arts: Beaus & Eros, will close with a festive Valentine-themed party from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2. The event includes complimentary beverages, small bites, live entertainment and the exclusive opportunity to outbid online donors.
Artists interested in donating work to Hearts for the Arts are encouraged to contact Rachel Johnson at (417) 862-2787. Works of art should be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 8 and 9, at The Creamery Arts Center. Works can be of any size or medium, but they must be wired and ready to hang. Works do not have to reflect the event’s theme but are encouraged to do so. Participating artists receive multiple recognition opportunities, including display of their donated work throughout the auction.
The Hearts for the Arts auction begins online Monday, Jan. 15, and runs through Friday, Feb. 2. Patrons can bid online at SpringfieldArts.org, or stop by The Creamery, 411 N. Sherman Parkway, Springfield, to bid in person.
